Real Madrid defeated Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League semi-final at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Los Blancos made an amazing comeback on Wednesday after being 0-1 down till the 87th minute of the game. Alphonso Davies broke the deadlock in the 68th minute of the game making it 3-2 on the aggregate. Another tactical masterclass from Carlo Ancelotti who brought in Joselu to replace Federico Valverde in the 81st minute and the Spanish striker was the difference maker.

The 35-year-old footballer scored two late goals one in the 88th minute of the game to make it 1-1 on the night and 3-3 on aggregate, then three minutes later he again scored in the 91st minute of the game winning the game for the La Liga champions making it 4-3 on aggregate. However, there was a controversial decision from the referee that went against Munich late in the game.

Matthijs de Ligt scored late in the stoppage time of the game but the linesman raised his flag for offside and the referee blew his whistle before the play was completed, VAR was also not consulted. The Dutch centre back alongwith Thomas Muller was furious about the decision and asked for VAR but the match official Szymon Marciniak did not consult the Video Assistant and the goal was ruled out due to an offside.

De Ligt furious with the referee

The 24-year-old defender was left furious after the game and revealed a shocking fact that the linesman said to him "I’m sorry, I made a mistake." That means the disallowed goal was not an offside and the Bavarians's goal could have been the game changing moment and it could have gone to extra time.

De Ligt further addded, "The rule says that if it’s not clear offside … you have to keep playing. And if you go in the last minute and you whistle like this, I think this is a big mistake. If it’s offside or not, I don’t know, VAR can check it, but if you don’t check it, how can you see it? This is a shame."
