England-based club Manchester United seem to have won the race for young Spanish star Miguel Gutierrez. The 2-year-old has been the topic of many clubs' interest ahead of the new season. As per reports in Spain, it seems the Red Devils have stolen a march over their rivals and won the race to sign the youngster.

Miguel Gutierrez has been with Girona FC for the last two years after starting as a Real Madrid graduate. The youngster has been identified as a cover for Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

The two footballers endured a miserable campaign due to injuries. While Shaw was in and out of the side, Malacia missed the entire season due to injury. The youngster is yet to post an update on fitness with the new season set to begin in August.

Manchester United in need of a left-back

Noted transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano had recently said, “Man Utd will sign a left-back because they know Tyrell Malacia is struggling, also the injuries of Luke Shaw this season. [They] will go for a young, talented and good, important left-back. This is the idea of the club and also agreed with the manager.”

According to the buzz in the Spanish media, the deal is reported to be worth 34 million. The biggest stumbling block could be Real Madrid who own 50% rights of the player and there is also a sell-on clause. The report also states that Real Madrid will be happy to walk off the deal if United can pay a suitable sum to get some money based on the sell-on clause.

Clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal as well as Borussia Dortmund are also thought to be in the fray to sign the left-back. Arch Rivals Liverpool too seem to be in the race as they want to make new additions ahead of the new season for their new boss.

Meanwhile, Matthijs De Ligt has given his go-ahead to an offer from Manchester United. The Dutchman as per reports is set to sign for United after agreeing to take a pay cut and ignore the advances from Paris Saint Germain. Both Man United and Bayern Munich are locked in final talks over the deal.
