Lionel Messi is arguably the greatest footballer of all time. The Argentine captain has won every possible major trophy in his career. The one trophy that was missing from his cabinet was the FIFA World Cup, which he won back in 2022 in Qatar. The former FC Barcelona captain currently plays in Major League Soccer (MLS) for Inter Miami in the USA. The 36-year-old is almost nearing his retirement and is having a fun time playing at the lower level.

The former Paris Saint-Germain footballer has surpassed several records and created new ones, with some of them being impossible to be broken in the near future for the upcoming talents of the game. On Saturday night, he again etched his name in the history books after becoming the first player to have five assists in a single match. LM 10 missed the games for the national side due to a hamstring injury, but since his return, he has been the difference-maker for the MLS club.

Messi has won 8 Ballon d’Or, two FIFA World Cup ‘Golden Ball’ the most by any individual player. He is also leading the chart for the most goal contributions in the history of the game. After Saturday’s game, he surpassed his previous record. He now has 833 goals and 372 assists beside his name, making a total of 1205 contributions; previously, he had 1199 contributions.

Suarez and Messi link helps to cruise past Red Bulls

His side won the game 6-2 against the NY Red Bulls, with Luis Suarez scoring a brilliant hat-trick. The visitors opened the scoring with Dante Vanzeir breaking the deadlock. The home side came back early in the second half with Matias Rojas equalizing. The Argentine put his side in the lead in the 50th minute. Then Suarez added more to the misery by scoring a hat-trick in 16 minutes, with all of his goals being assisted by his Argentine teammate.

The side will next face CF Montreal, who are currently 11th in the league table. Messi's side will look to maintain their top position by winning the game on Sunday.
