Modern day Football icon, Kylian Mbappe of Real Madrid expressed his disappointment at Antoine Griezmann's decision to retire from the French national team.
This week, European soccer was shocked by the news of Griezmann's retirement from the France National Team, a move that had been rumoured for weeks within Didier Deschamps’ squad. Griezmann’s announcement prompted a strong reaction from teammate Kylian Mbappe, who bid an emotional farewell to the Atletico Madrid forward.
Mbappe has promptly put an end to any rumours about discord by sharing a sincere message on his social media platforms, expressing his admiration for Griezmann.
Mbappe's Heartfelt Message For Griezmann
In his Instagram Caption, Mbappe described Griezmann as an outstanding player and emphasized his significant role in the modern era of our national team. Mbappe expressed his gratitude for the unforgettable moments and recognized Griezmann's enduring contribution in leading the team to numerous titles.
Mbappe firmly believes that while some may consider it premature to stop now, he fully comprehends and respects Griezmann's decision.
Mbappe acknowledges that representing the national colours always entails additional responsibilities without always receiving the corresponding recognition. He emphasized that Antoine always has a mark on the history of the French team. Mbappe expressed that it was an honour and privilege to have played alongside him for so long.
"An exceptional player ending his career in EDF. One of the most important players in the modern era of our national team. Thank you for the unforgettable memories you have given us, you carried this team for years and greatly contributed to bringing it to the top with many titles," Mbappe in his Instagram Caption.
"Some may think it's too early to stop right now but I understand and respect your decision. Wearing this shirt always demands more without sometimes bringing the recognition that comes with it. You will remain in the history of the French team forever. And I will never forget the honour and pleasure it was to play alongside you for so many years. I never trivialized it," Mbappe in his Instagram Caption.
Griezmann a Legend of French Football
Griezmann's decision comes just days before Deschamps is scheduled to announce his France squad for the October international break, where Les Bleus will face Israel and Belgium in the Nations League group stage.
Griezmann boasts 137 appearances for his country and has scored 44 goals. The Atletico Madrid star played a pivotal role in helping Didier Deschamps' side secure victory in the 2018 World Cup.
