Fenerbahce, who finished 2nd in the Turkish Super League with 99 points and losing just one game in the season, have agreed terms with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho. As per the report to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Portuguese manager will be the new head coach of Fenerbahce. Mourinho has already signed a two-year deal with the Istanbul club and the announcement might come as early as today. Despite having a good season will be parting ways with İsmail Kartal.

The Portuguese manager has had eye-catching success in Europe previously and has managed some of the biggest clubs, with the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid, AS Roma, and FC Porto. He in the last season led Roma to Europa Conference League success in 2021-22, the club’s first-ever European trophy, and to the Europa League final in 2022-23, but was sacked after a poor start to last season.

The 61-year-old manager was also on the radar of clubs but as per Fabrizio Romano's latest report, he has verbally agreed terms with the Turkish club. He was linked to moving to the Middle East however despite all the speculations he rejected all the deals and decided to stay in Europe.

Mourinho eyes new success in Europe

Mourinho in March said, "I’m ready to start. And sometimes when you are in a club and feel the need of a rest, a think, to process things. In this case, one day after I left [Roma], I was ready to go. I feel strong, I feel good. I love the work. I’m really ready, but I don’t want to make the wrong choice. I cannot accept something just because of the feeling and just because of the passion to be back, so I have to be patient."

Now that the deal has been agreed upon between the two, he will surely love to bring back the side in winning ways and win championships as he has always done with the teams he has managed. He will be looking to get success with the new club he will be arriving.
