Joao Palhinha's 94th-minute strike helped Tottenham Hotspur rescue a point against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night. The visitors, who came into the match yet to open their English Premier League account this season, matched toe-to-toe with Spurs and deservedly took the lead through Santiago Bueno's 54th-minute effort.

Tottenham started brightly and nearly drew first blood as Mohammed Kudus' close-range header from Xavi Simmons' cross struck the crossbar. Kudus was causing all sorts of problems for the Wolves defenders down the right flank. The Ghanian midfielder found the back of the net in the 26th-minute after a briliant combination play with Lucas Bergvall but the linesman raised his flag for off side.

Three minutes before the break, Kudus cut inside from the right and tested Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone with a powerful left-footed strike. Meanwhile the visitors took the lead against the run of play. Nine minutes into the second half Bueno slotted home after Gugliemo Vicario Parried Ladislav Krejci's header.

The goal lifted the visting sides confidence as the likes of Jean-Ricner Bellegrade and Hugo Bueno nearly doubled the lead. However, Palhina's brilliant right-footed curler from the edge of the box, after Pape Matar Sarr's excellent hold-up play, earned a crucial point for Spurs.

The result helped Thomas Frank's side to third spot in the Premier League table, having collected 11 points from six games, four adrift of leaders Liverpool. Meanwhile Wolves have opened their top flight account after five sucessive defeats but remain at the bottom.

Tottenham's next assignment is away to Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League on Tuesday. And then Frank's side will travel to Elland Road to take on Leeds United in the top flight on Saturday before breaking for international duty. Wolves, on the other hand, will next play host to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Sunday.
