Barcelona is gearing up for an important matchup in La Liga on Monday night against Rayo Vallecano at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Montjuïc for Matchday 24. With both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid dropping points on Saturday, the Catalans have a great opportunity to secure a victory that would elevate them to the top of the league table.
Hansi Flick reveals his take on Jude Bellingham's booking
During his pre-match press conference, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick asserted that the team does not concern themselves with their rivals. Their focus is solely on their own performance and current standings. They have executed strong gameplays this year, and training sessions reflect their positive momentum.
In a heated moment last evening, Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham was sent off during the match against Osasuna due to his outspoken protest against the referee's decisions.
The England international seemed to shout "F*** off" at official Munuera Montero, who misinterpreted it as "F*** you." This miscommunication was something that Madrid intended to leverage in their efforts to overturn the red card.
"It’s disrespectful, but I don’t have to decide this situation. I tell my players not to waste time or energy talking to the referees. The decisions have already been made,” Flick noted.
When asked for his opinion on the incident, Flick described it as a disrespectful act on the part of the Real Madrid star.
"There is one player on the pitch who is allowed to argue with the referee, that is the captain. I like handball very much and we should learn a lot from this sport. It’s not good for the team to get a red card and we don’t want that.” Flick said.
Barcelona have made a commanding start to 2025 across all competitions, and they are set to reclaim their position at the top of Laliga. However, they will face a formidable foe from a Rayo side that is also riding high on confidence.
