Aston Villa defeated Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. The visitors have done a league double against the Gunners this season by defeating them at home and away. This is the second time they have done it against a top 3 opponent in the last season they defeated Manchester City twice, but the Sky Blues did manage to win the league. The Gunners before the game had the chance of becoming the league toppers but they failed to achieve so.

Unai Emery has been brilliant with the Villas, as the coach has managed 9 points from Arsenal and Manchester City in 4 matches this season. Under his managerialship, the club has turned into one of the best in the Premier League. Since his inception as the coach, he has won 19 games this season which is most in the club's history. He arrived in October 2022, he has led Villa to 30 wins with 8 draws, suffering only 12 losses.

The club has almost confirmed their place in the UEFA Champions League for the upcoming season. Under the Spanish head coach, they are playing in the UEFA Europa Conference League and are 2-1 ahead in the quarter-finals of the tournament and have the chance of winning it as well. Under him Arsenal also performed well in one season he was with them at the Emirates, they qualified for the Europa League.

Unai Emery destroying Arsenal's title hopes?

The 52-year-old has been a brilliant mastermind with his gameplay. He made a side with much composure and precision at the back and built a side capable of passing out from the goalkeeper during their build-up for the game. During his stint at Villareal, he won the Europa League beating Manchester United in the final and almost qualified for the 2021/22 season UCL final as they gave a hard fight to Liverpool in the semi-final.

With the win against his former side, he might have just destroyed the hopes of Arsenal's title race as they are two points behind the defending champions City with still 6 games left for the clubs. Villa will be competing in the top-tier European competition next season after 1982 when they won the European Cup but since the name change, they are yet to participate and might be seen doing that next season.
