Neymar has addressed the ongoing discussions regarding his future with Al-Hilal following his recent injury. The Brazilian star is recovering from a hamstring injury, which could keep him out of action for up to six weeks. This setback comes shortly after he returned from a year-long recovery due to an ACL tear. As a result, there are questions about the potential for Al-Hilal to reconsider his contract, which is set to expire in the summer.
Neymar has been linked with Lionel Messi's Inter Miami and his former team home team Santos in the past. However, he has made it clear that he remains committed to Al-Hilal and is satisfied with his current situation.
Neymar's take on continuing to play in Saudi Arabia
In a recent statement during the official launch of Saudi Arabia's bid to host the 2034 World Cup, Neymar expressed the significance of playing in Saudi Arabia and living in such a remarkable country. He emphasized that he has been warmly welcomed and is genuinely happy there. Neymar confidently stated that his experience will only continue to improve, and he believes more stars are sure to join the league. He insists everyone deserves the chance to experience the unique opportunities he has found in the Saudi League.
"The opportunity to play here and live in a country like this is very important for people. That’s why I always say that I was very well-received here. I’m very happy and I’m sure it will only get better. I’m sure other stars will come here. I believe that many will have the opportunity to come here, and I think that everyone should have the opportunity to experience what I have experienced here." Neymar said.
Al-Hilal had a remarkable season in the Saudi Pro League last year, finishing unbeaten and securing the title with a 16-point lead, despite Neymar being sidelined for most of the campaign due to injury.
Currently, Neymar is expected to return to action with Al-Hilal in December, and there are likely to be discussions around his future in the interim. As it stands, he will have the option to negotiate with other clubs and potentially sign a pre-contract starting in January 2025. Notably, Santos president Marcelo Teixeira has expressed that the club has a solid plan in place for Neymar should his contract with Al-Hilal be terminated.
