Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to start as the Spanish giants face Rayo Vallecano on November 9, 2025, in La Liga. The news comes as a major boost for Madrid, who are looking to bounce back after a 0-1 defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.

In that game, Trent played just nine minutes — his first appearance since recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in September. Now fully fit, Alonso’s confirmation signals a strong step forward for both the player and the team.
Speaking in a press conference, Alonso said: "Yes, [Trent] is ready, he's been training for a few weeks. Tomorrow you'll know if he starts or not ... In the circumstances, [Valverde] has played there and done well ... He's always ready to help the team. It's an option we have."
"You can't make a definitive judgement on just one game" - Alonso
The Madrid boss also reflected on the Liverpool loss, emphasising that his side has already reviewed what went wrong and are now fully focused on the upcoming fixture.
"You have to put it in context. We've had all kinds of games. You have to look at how the game went, you can't make a definitive judgement on just one game ... We've analysed the game, we've talked about it, and now it's about Vallecas," Alonso said.
He further stressed the need for consistency as the season progresses. "We want to be consistent in our performance. But we know not every game is the same. I have no complaints about my players' attitude," he added.
