On Monday, France defeated Belgium 1-0 thanks to a deflected shot by Randal Kolo Muani, sending Kylian Mbappé and his team into the quarterfinals of the European Championship. In the 85th minute, Kolo Muani attempted a shot that went over helpless goalkeeper Koen Casteels and rebounded up off Belgium player Jan Vertonghen.

On Friday, France will play Slovenia or Portugal in the quarterfinals. In a lackluster game between the teams placed second and third, who essentially neutralized each other, Mbappé, once again sporting a mask to shield his fractured nose, had five shots, but none of them found the back of the net.

Though they are in the quarterfinals, France, with their array of stars, is still untested. The others find that to be frightening. In their first four games, they've scored two own goals and a penalty. Deschamps' team is strong defensively and they've only given up one goal, but their offensive is a little haphazard. France continued to create opportunities; against Belgium as Mbappe, Griezmann, and Thuram each had significant chances but could not convert them into anything.

In contrast to certain other elite teams, France is aware of its play and opportunities, and they believe that everything will finally come together. Without exerting much effort, they've made it to the final eight.  If they face a tough team like Portugal, they might have to pull off a miracle if they want to qualify for the final four.

Has KDB played his last game for Belgium?

After the game, a dejected Kevin de Bruyne faced the wrath of the media reporters waiting for him. There is no indication whether this was his last game for Belgium or not but when asked about it he said he needed more time to think about it.

The Manchester City playmaker said, “It's too early to answer. Let me process this loss. It's a been a very long season, I need to rest my body. I will make my decision after the summer.”
