Gary Lineker slams UEFA over Jude Bellingham investigation after win over Slovakia

England and Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham was in the hot water with UEFA over his actions at the end of the game versus Slovakia. The youngster had scored a wonder goal as England came from behind to win 2-1. 

The UEFA had initiated an investigation after Bellingham was seen during a gesture which was caught on TV and later deemed inappropriate. Former England star Gary Lineker though slammed UEFA and called them out over the move. 

Taking to his social media account the former England star wrote, “For crying out loud, the @EURO2024 celebration police are looking into @BellinghamJude. Ridiculous!". It has come to light that the investigations are now done after Bellingham called it a joke amongst teammates. 

Jude Bellingham relishes his goal versus Slovakia 

England haven’t had a great EURO 2024 and they have been called out for their performances. The Gareth Southgate side had to grind out for 95 minutes before grabbing the late win. 

Controversies aside, Bellingham has been in great form of England and has been their driving force in the final 8. The youngster said, “I know what I can deliver in those moments, I've done it for Madrid this year, I've done it for England before. If it ends up being one that helps us lift the trophy, then it will be right up there.”

The youngster also said, “I think the performance was really good until their goal and even afterwards. We had massive control, we were always threatening in the final third. We maybe lacked the little touches to create the big chances but we still had a few that were half-chances and we showed really great quality to maximise. It's going to be important for us going forward."

UEFA put out a statement which read “Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector will conduct a disciplinary investigation regarding a potential violation of the basic rules of decent conduct by the English FA player, Jude Bellingham, having allegedly occurred in the scope of this match,"

Addressing the controversy, Bellingham said, "An inside joke gesture towards some close friends who were at the game. Nothing but respect for how that Slovakia team played tonight."
