Jude Bellingham has been receiving criticism from the Spanish media due to his goal drought, which has now extended to 11 games after the weekend. Despite this, the 21-year-old had an impressive debut season at the Bernabeu in 2023-24 following his high-profile transfer from Borussia Dortmund for an initial £88.5 million fee.

No more Bellin'goal'

In the previous season, the English star demonstrated exceptional performance by scoring 23 goals and providing 13 assists in just 42 matches, contributing to Real's victories in La Liga, the Champions League, and the Spanish Super Cup.

However, Bellingham has not scored in the current season, having played nine matches in 2024-25 without finding the net, in addition to the final two games of 2023-24. Spanish paper Marca has highlighted this, and it's an area where Bellingham will likely aim to improve as he continues his career.

At this stage last season, Bellingham had scored 10 goals, and there were concerns about his form as he hadn't scored yet. However, with time and effort, Bellingham can regain his form and work towards reaching or even surpassing his goal tally from last year.

Is Bellingham overshadowed ?

During Real's 2-1 win over Celta Vigo at the weekend, there was a report of Bellingham expressing frustration with Vinicius Jnr when the Brazilian did not pass to him during the game. It was noted that the Englishman passionately communicated his feelings to his teammate. However, Real boss Carlo Ancelotti downplayed any issues after the match.

It has been suggested by Marca that Bellingham's performance has been overshadowed by the arrival of Kylian Mbappe this summer. They claim that Mbappe's impressive goal-scoring record has outshone Bellingham's achievements from last season at this point. However, it's important to note that Bellingham has been playing in a slightly different role this season due to the arrival of Mbappe, which has affected his goal-scoring opportunities.

Bellingham has transitioned from being the main star of Real Madrid to taking on a more supporting role. It's been noted that he's finding it challenging to make as much of an impact on the game from a deeper position. As a result, Vinicius Junior and Mbappe have been playing a more significant role in Madrid's attacks. Diario Sport has further detailed the noticeable effect this shift has had on Bellingham.
