Takefusa Kubo who had a forgettable spell at Real Madrid is set to take on his former side on Saturday. The Japanese star is currently with Real Sociedad who are 13th in the table and they will host the 2nd placed Real Madrid.

MARCA asked the Japanese star why Real Madrid have made a difficult start to the season. The front three of Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe and Rodrygo haven’t clicked so far. Kubo replied “I think that the three up front play in the same position and that means that maybe they are not giving their best version but as it is not our team we try to worry about our own.”

The 23-year-old also had to say this about Kylian Mbappe “We suffer a lot more with him on the wing than at centre-forward. At the moment in La Liga, I think the same thing is happening and hopefully things don’t work out for him tomorrow against us”

Takefusa Kubo looking forward to game against Real Madrid

Ahead of the home game against Real Madrid, young Japanese striker Takefusa Kubo was filled with hope and excitement. When asked by MARCA how his team planned to stop the dangerous front of the Los Blancos, the youngster was open in his reply.

Kubo said “The best thing for us is for him not to play on the wing because that’s where I see him as almost unstoppable and when he plays as a centre forward, we’ll try to use that top speed that he has, which starts from nowhere, and try to help each other so that the player who has the ball doesn’t raise his head and sees him.”

MARCA also asked Kubo about his time with Real Madrid but the Japanese star was quickly ended the question. You say Real Madrid are my former team, but I didn’t get to make my official debut with them and was always on loan, I don’t have great memories.”

“It’s gone now and I focus on Sociedad. I don’t see them as a former team, but as one of the biggest clubs in the world. In the end, it creates a lot more impact and trying to sell my name to these big teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona or Atlético de Madrid, I think, is a good thing.” Takefusa Kubo ended by saying. The game on Saturday will be sweet redemption if Takefusa Kubo can score for his side.
