Ez Abde was among many of the young players Barcelona moved out last summer; although manager Xavi Hernandez wanted to keep him, the winger chose to go in quest of consistent playing time.

In a transaction costing €7.5 million, the Moroccan international joined Real Betis in the summer, with Barcelona keeping a 50% sell-on clause in case of a future transfer. Furthermore, there's a strong possibility that Barça may gain from the sell-on condition being included as early as this year.

In fact, Real Betis has chosen to sell Abde this summer because manager Manuel Pellegrini is no longer depending on him, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Moroccan attacker is barely playing in this latter stretch of the season, which is almost over. In fact, the 22-year-old has not been used as a substitute in Betis's previous three La Liga matches against Valencia, Celta, and Girona.

He has played barely any minutes against Atletico Madrid, Villarreal, and Rayo Vallecano in the three games prior. According to the report, Pellegrini was displeased with Abde's lack of preparation for the match against Girona and substituted Rodri Sanchez in Abde's starting lineup. There have been many reports that the winger might be looking for a move away from the club.

Which clubs will go in for the former FC Barcelona reject?

According to the source, AC Milan expressed interest in signing Abde after demonstrating a desire to do the same last summer. In addition, a number of La Liga sides would be open to signing the 22-year-old, even if they are not able to afford to pay Betis' price tag for the winger. In any case, as Abde gets closer to leaving Betis, Barcelona stands to benefit monetarily.

This will mark the third time in recent memory that Betis and Pellegrini failed to maximise the potential of young, skilled wingers with a reputation, after Luiz Henrique and Diego Lainez. With the money coming from this sale, they would look to find a potential replacement for next season.
