Manchester City took on a young Chelsea FC side at the Wembley stadium in the first semi-final today. Whichever team progresses today will be set to take on the winner of the other semi-final between Manchester United and Coventry City.

It was a game where both the teams played cautious football and crucial chances were missed by attackers. However, a great cross from Kevin de Bruyne led to a scrappy goal late in the second half. In the end, Manchester City won the game 1-0 against Chelsea and advanced to the FA Cup final once again. Let’s take a look at the match rating for the players of both teams today.

Manchester City: 

Stefan Ortega - 7

The keeper was great throughout the game and made some crucial saves during 1v1s. 

Kyle Walker - 7.5

The veteran proved to be a force to reckon with at the back and was able to cover up ground even if an attacker breached the defence line.

John Stones - 7

The centre-back was back for the defending champions and was solid at the back as he got in some interceptions for the first half.

Manuel Akanji - 6.5

The Swiss International was switching from defence to attack but was quite mediocre in both departments today.

Nathan Ake - 7

The left-back was restored into the line-up and had a decent outing against Chelsea and was good at the back more often than not.

Rodri - 6

A rather tame performance from Rodri as per his expectations but that was expected after an exhausting midweek game.

Kevin De Bruyne - 9

The attacking midfielder created some great chances and tested the keeper on more than one occasion as well. It was his cross into the box that got the decisive goal for his side and he won the Man of the Match award as well.

Bernardo Silva - 7

The midfielder was not able to create much today and looked mediocre throughout the game but came up clutch with the goal when required. 

Phil Foden - 7

The playmaker was once again dictating the things and had a great chance to open the scoring in the first half.

Jack Grealish - 6

The winger was not at his best today and couldn’t get anything going on the left flank. He was later subbed out after he sustained a knock.

Julian Alvarez  - 5.5

The striker was playing more like an attacking midfielder and did not have a clear cut chance at goal throughout the game.

The centre-back was brought in for Stones in the second half and got in some key blocks today against Chelsea

Jeremy Doku - 7.5

Upon his arrival, he looked like he would be the player that could get the breakthrough for his side as he continued to test the opposition defence from the right flank.

Djordje Petrovic - 8

Despite conceding a clumsy goal today, he was superb between the sticks and kept out most of the chances.

Malo Gusto - 8.5

The French right-back was great throughout his 78 minute stay in the game as he kept the flank quiet almost all the time.

Trevor Chalobah - 7

The English defender was great today as he got some great interceptions and denied the opposition many opportunities.

Thiago Silva - 7.5

The veteran used all of his experience as he was able to deny a lot of chances to the opposition. He had an error in the first half but apart from that it was a flawless game for him. 

Marc Cucurella - 5.5

He was having a great game up until the goal and was partially at fault as he did not cover the goalscorer on time.

Enzo Fernandez - 6

The midfielder was helping out the defence more often than not and he could not contribute much in the attack. 

Moises Caicedo - 6

He has one of his better performances today as he did not commit any rookie mistakes. But the midfielder was not able to contribute anything significant in the attack.

Connor Gallagher - 6

The attacking midfielder played on the right wing and could not produce anything significant for the Blues and it was a disappointing performance for the hosts.

Noni Madueke - 6.5

The winger was energetic in the first half and was creating a few chances as well.

Cole Palmer - 7

The attacking midfielder looked lively in the attack and was looking to be the main threat for the Blues.

Nicholas Jackson - 5

The striker was making good runs but was not able to put away the bucketload of chances that he got in the first half.

Axel Disasi - 4.5

After he came on, the opposition got the vital goal and he should have been in position to block the cross. 

Mykhailo Mydruk - 4

Couldn’t attack the opposition goal as much and was dominated by the defenders on multiple occasions.
