After Fenerbahce's victory over Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig last month, there were reports of violence, therefore Trabzonspor was sentenced to play six matches behind closed doors. At Papara Park in Trabzon, supporters stormed the ground, attacking Fenerbahce players and security personnel.

Jayden Oosterwolde and Irfan Can Egribayat of Fenerbahce received one-game suspensions for clashing with opposing fans. Moreover, Trabzonspor was fined three million Turkish Lira. The coach of Trabzonspor, Egemen Korkmaz, has been barred from the locker room as well as bench for one game due to altercations involving a rival player.

Bright Osayi-Samuel, the Nigerian winger for Fenerbahce, was not sent off after he was spotted shoving a pitch intruder to the ground. The disciplinary council appointed by the Turkish Football Federation met and decided on the penalties.

In reaction to the violence, Fenerbahce members voted down a proposal on Tuesday to leave the Turkish Super Lig. Tensions in the Trabzonspor match began to escalate during the 87th minute following Michy Batshuayi scoring the game-winning goal for the visitors. Objects were hurled into the pitch.

Gianni Infantino, the president of Fifa, called the incidents "absolutely unacceptable". The Turkish Football Federation declared in a press release that "the necessary criminal sanctions will be imposed on those responsible for these incidents" and referred to the actions as "unacceptable".

Fenerbahce, who trail leaders Galatasaray by two points after 30 games in the Super Lig, are going to face Adana Demirspor on Wednesday.

Another instance of Trabzonspor FC fans dictating actions inside the stadium

After their team's 3-2 loss on Sunday, fans of the Turkish football team Trabzonspor invaded the pitch and got into a brawl with Fenerbahce players and security personnel. This is just the most recent incident in a league that has been plagued by controversy this season.

After the final whistle, a Trabzonspor supporter invaded the pitch and started charging towards the Fenerbahce players who were celebrating. Some of the players retaliated by rushing towards him and trying to strike him. This caused tensions to flare. Then, as authorities attempted to restore order, more spectators encroached onto the pitch.
