Manchester United's form in the current season of the English Premier League (EPL) has been quite disappointing with the results they have produced and the injury concerns that have led to the downfall of the side. The Red Devils will be back in action on Saturday night against Brentford, as they will look to turn things around after the international break in order to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage for the next season. Erik ten Hag's side have suffered with lots of major injuries, but the head coach gave an update about their French striker Anthony Martial.

Martial was out in January after it was announced that he had undergone successful surgery on the groin, and his return was suggested around 10 weeks. Now that the forward has returned the head coach has provided an update about the striker. The head coach said the return of his action on the field will be dependent on how fast he can become match-fit.

However, there have been some speculations that the 28-year-old striker might be leaving Old Trafford for free in the summer transfer with the expiration of his contract. With Rasmus Højlund being in good form for the Red Devils, the chances of Martial staying for the EPL side become grim.

Will Erik ten Hag be on the sidelines for United next season?

The Dutch headmaster who himself is under fire after the poor show of the United was questioned about the France striker and he replied back saying, "It depends on him. It’s about how quickly is he back and what levels he is showing. You know when you are working at Man United there will always be noise, rumours around the club, the manager, the players, whatever." Ten Hag was quoted as saying by Extra.ie.

"There will always (an) issue – you like it, to talk about. Of course, we have different interests, but we are not focusing on that. We are focusing on the process, we are focusing on the team to play better, to improve the way of play, so I don’t care about (it)." There have been talks of the England head coach Gareth Southgate being linked with United as a possible replacement in the upcoming season.
