The opening game of Group B has turned into a wrestling contest. Venezuela rallied from behind to defeat Ecuador 2-1 at the Copa America on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in California, United States, kicking off their Group B campaign on a high note.

Both of Venezuela's goals came from substitutes, with Jhonder Cadiz leveling the score in the 64th minute off Salomon Rondon's cushioned layoff following a short throw-in. Eduard Bello clinched Venezuela's triumph in the 74th minute, thumping home a rebound from close range after Rondon forced a superb save from Ecuadorian goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez.

The referee sent off Ecuador striker Enner Valencia in the 22nd minute for a late and reckless charge on Venezuelan defender Jose Martinez. Romo stopped John Yeboah's shot from within the area, and Valencia sought to get to the ball. However, his challenge to Martinez was late and hazardous. He received a direct red card after VAR requested that the referee come and inspect the situation.

Both teams had tremendous toughness to the game

Despite being down a man, La Tri showed incredible energy and took the lead in the 40th minute with Jeremy Sarmiento's stunning shot from outside the box.  Fernando Batista, Venezuela's coach, made vital adjustments after halftime, allowing his team to capitalize on their numerical advantage. Cadiz got the equalizer in the 63rd minute, and Bello won 10 minutes later.

The match at Levi's Stadium began with both teams competing for every lost ball and bringing tremendous toughness to the contest. Colombian referee Wilmar Roldan had to issue many cautions in the first 45 minutes to keep the players in control.

Following Ecuador forward Enner Valencia's red card for a violent challenge, La Tri's Kendry Paez and Jeremy Sarmiento were both sent off. Roldan did, however, caution Venezuela's Cristian Casseres Jr. and Darwin Machis.
