Chelsea’s star midfielder, Moises Caicedo, saw his £160,000 (INR 1.77 crores) Audi RSQ8 seized after police suspected him of driving without a valid licence. The 22-year-old Ecuadorian was stopped by authorities in London, who are reportedly investigating whether his licence meets UK standards.
According to The Standard, Surrey Police said, “A man in his 20s from Cobham was stopped by officers on Fairmile Lane in Cobham on Friday 4 April and found to be driving without a licence. The vehicle was seized, and our enquiries are ongoing.”
Caicedo to face consequences
Caicedo could face some serious penalties, including the potential seizure of his luxury car and even some criminal prosecution if his licence is found invalid. The star midfielder was signed by Chelsea in 2023 for a whopping £115 million. The club reacted to the case and said that it was a 'personal matter'.
On the other hand, according to the Sun, Caicedo's agent, Manuel Sierra Camacho, came up with a statement, stating. "There is no comment from us about this matter. I’m sorry."
Police are investigating the matter to determine whether Caicedo had the correct insurance coverage. The Chelsea footballer may be prosecuted in court and face a driving ban if he is found guilty of the incident

As per British laws, foreign citizens with international driving permits can drive on roads for a maximum term of 12 months, following which they have to apply for a driving licence and pass the practical driving test.

Driving without a licence is a serious motoring offence in the eyes of the law. This means it can carry significant penalties that may affect your ability to drive in the future,” a law firm JMW, stated.
The midfielder is currently with his team as they are set to face Warsaw in an important UEFA Conference League fixture.
