Chelsea's form in the current season of the English Premier League (EPL) has been miserable. As the Blues are currently placed 12th in the league far away from the European qualification for the next season. They will be hosting Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. The home side are winless in the previous 12 meetings against the Red Devils. They will like to change the fortunes in their favour and reduce the points gap.

Ahead of the game there has been a controversy over a video showing Conor Gallagher with a mascot before the Premier League match against Burnley where the Blues star ignore the mascot totally because of his skin colour, and the club has issued a statement for the very reason and to clear off the misunderstanding that are being circulated over the social media.

The footage shows Gallagher lining up in the Stamford Bridge tunnel ahead of his team's Premier League match against Burnley last week. A little mascot is seen reaching out for a high five from Gallagher, but the midfielder only taps his shoulder and turns to another mascot behind him. The video was shared accusing the star midfielder of racism and he turned away from the mascot just because he was black.

Chelsea clarifies on Gallagher incident

After the incident the club has issued a statment over the video stating, "Chelsea Football Club is aware of a video clip circulating on social media from Saturday’s fixture against Burnley, which has been taken considerably out of context." The statement also read that the club is proud to be diverse over the everyone and welcomes every community and cultures.

The head coach also has backed his footballer saying the intention of the player was never to commit such a thing or he did it purposefully, during the game a lot of things happen and some people deliberatley create a mess about the same. He believes Gallagher is a great human who cares about everything.
