Chelsea have put together a preliminary shortlist of managerial candidates, which includes Kieran McKenna of Ipswich Town, Enzo Maresca of Leicester City, and Thomas Frank of Brentford.
The Blues are looking for a replacement manager Mauricio Pochettino, who left the team by mutual consent. Contact has been established with McKenna, who earned promotion to the English Premier League alongside Ipswich Town this past season. However, Brighton & Hove Albion is also interested in replacing Roberto de Zerbi.
Manchester United is also apparently keen on McKenna, who would require more than £4 million in compensation. He is thought to be the leader as Chelsea seeks a speedy replacement, but Maresca, who guided Leicester towards the EFL Championship title and served as the coach at Manchester City alongside Pep Guardiola, is another option.
Danish manager Frank, 50, is also being considered for his efforts in guiding Brentford in the Premier League prior to securing their place in the top tier. Chelsea is believed to have a fourth candidate on their shortlist. Sebastian Hoeness, the manager of Stuttgart, was rumoured to be interested, but he is reportedly expected to remain in Germany.
The Chelsea players who are not with their countries will convene for pre-season on July 4 and begin on the tour of the United States of America under new management, after finishing sixth in the English Premier League and reaching the Carabao Cup final last season, where they lost to Liverpool.
Behdad Eghbali, who co-founded Clearlake in 2006, is currently taking on greater responsibility away from Boehly and is frequently seen at first-team games. Along with sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, the 48-year-old will play a key role in the search for a new head coach.
Eghbali moved to the United States alongside his family as a toddler and now has a net worth of $3.8 billion, placing 835th on Forbes' rich list. Boehly's net worth is $6.1 billion, substantially larger than Iran's. There had been considerable misunderstanding over who had been making important choices at Chelsea, with stories claiming that Eghbali preferred Pochettino out while Boehly was content with the Argentine.
