Ipswich signed Delap from Manchester City after they received a much-deserved promotion to the Premier League. He was signed for a transfer fee of £15m plus £5m add-ons. With Ipswich now facing relegation threats, the club has brought down Delap's transfer clause to £30m.

Ipswich faces a challenge with City’s 20% sell-on clause. Additionally, Delap’s release clause has decreased to £30 million (upon relegation), which may attract interest from Chelsea and United, as both clubs are seeking to strengthen their attacking options.

Liam Delap has been on the radar of Manchester United, which also includes other promising strikers like Viktor Gyokeres, Hugo Ekitike, and Victor Osimhen. Chelsea is known to sign youngsters with lucrative deals. The Blues will have another chance of assessing their decision when Ipswich face Chelsea on April 12th.

Newcastle United and Liverpool are also speculated to join in the race to sign Delap. Manchester City has the option to buy back Delap but it seems highly improbable as the Citizens already boast two world-class strikers in their ranks.

Chelsea are in pursuit to solidify their position in the first four of the Premier League standings as they eye UEFA Champions League qualification. Manchester United are looking to add more points in an attempt to stay in the English top division.
