Barcelona eye to sign Enzo Fernandez, exchanging two of their finest stars

Barcelona is actively looking to enhance their midfield options in anticipation of the summer transfer window, with Enzo Fernandez emerging as a leading target. The club is considering a strategic move for the talented Argentine midfielder, potentially including Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres in a deal to effectively manage the financial aspects of the transfer.

Barçelona eyes to sign Enzo Fernandez 

Fernandez has made the most of his chances since he arrived at Chelsea for €120m two years ago, contributing greatly under the guidance of manager Enzo Maresca. 

Barcelona is exploring a potential player-exchange deal involving De Jong and Torres to facilitate a financially viable transfer. While De Jong possesses impressive technical skills, he has faced challenges in integrating into Hansi Flick’s system. Similarly, Torres has found it difficult to secure a regular starting position since his transfer to the club, suggesting that both players could benefit from a fresh opportunity.

Barcelona's 'midfield' crisis

Barcelona's midfield has seen profound changes since the conclusion of last season. İlkay Gündoğan, a key midfielder from the previous campaign, has departed the Catalan club to rejoin Manchester City. Additionally, Oriol Romeu had returned to his former team, Girona.

This season, Hansi Flick chose to start with 17-year-old Marc Bernal in the pivot role, supported by Pedri and Raphinha. However, Bernal's ACL injury has effectively sidelined him for the entire season, and Marc Casado has seized this opportunity and become a starter under Flick.

Barcelona is also working to register Dani Olmo, as he is poised to become a free agent if a contract is not secured by December 31st.
