In the 23rd minute of the match, Saka had to be substituted after indicating discomfort in his hamstring, leading to Leandro Trossard stepping in to take his place on the field. Despite this setback, Arsenal showed their strength and skill, ultimately securing a solid win. Saka was later seen leaving Selhurst Park on crutches, which serves as an obvious indication of the seriousness of his injury.

Mikel Arteta provides update on Saka's injury

Manager Mikel Arteta has provided a clear update on Saka's condition, acknowledging that the club is deeply concerned about the severity of his injury. While he did not specify the exact duration of the player’s absence, it's confirmed that the Gunners' medical team will conduct a thorough assessment.

“He felt something in his hamstring,” Arteta said after the game. “He couldn’t continue. He will have to be assessed. Pretty worried about that one.” Arteta said. “It’s difficult to do that now. They have tested him inside but very difficult to say how bad it is." Arteta added.

Multiple sources indicate that Saka is expected to be sidelined for several weeks. He will miss the Gunners' match at home against Ipswich Town on December 27. Following that, Arteta's side will play at Brentford on January 1 and conclude a challenging schedule of three matches in nine days with an away game at Brighton on January 4. Given that it's likely a moderate hamstring injury, the standard recovery time typically ranges from four to six weeks.

This is the England international's third hamstring injury of the 2024-25 campaign, following similar setbacks during international duty in October and November. Thankfully, none of these injuries have been severe enough to sideline him for an extended period.
