Manchester City charges

According to reports, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham have all filed legal notices protecting the right to sue for damages should it be determined that Manchester City violated Premier League financial regulations. According to the Times of London, the warnings were filed because of worries that if the clubs waited for the case's verdict, they might not have enough time to act within the statute of limitations.

In February of last year, Manchester City was accused of breaking 115 Premier League rules; the club has consistently vehemently refuted the accusations. On September 16, the International Dispute Resolution Centre in central London hosted the start of an independent commission hearing in the case. According to reports at the time, the hearing was set for ten weeks, meaning that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, it would end on Friday. Until the new year, no results are anticipated.

According to reports, the teams were informed that the current six-year statute of limitations might extend back to November 2018, when the Premier League launched an investigation after accusations against City were first made public by the German magazine Der Spiegel. In the event that City is found liable for some of the serious claims against them, the teams may seek compensation via the league's arbitration procedures, according to the Times.

What are Manchester City being sued for?

The charges against City include failing to disclose complete details of former head coach Roberto Mancini's compensation from 2009–10 to 2012–13, and also failing to provide accurate financial statistics for nine seasons from 2009–10 to 2017–18. It would be interesting to see how this case unfolds in the time being.

They are also accused of not cooperating with the investigation from 2018 to 2023 and of not disclosing all relevant information on compensation in agreements with players from 2010–11 to 2015–16. The club has previously stated that they encounter a "comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence" to back up their claims of innocence.
