Mohamed Salah is garnering a lot of interest from Al Hilal, a prominent Saudi Arabian club, as he nears the conclusion of his contract with Liverpool.
With just six months remaining on his current deal, Salah is now in a position to negotiate a pre-contract with foreign teams. The Egyptian forward is seeking clarity on his future and hopes for constructive discussions regarding a contract extension with the Liverpool management.
In an interview with Sky Sports earlier this month, he expressed his thoughts on his situation, indicating that he is currently in the final six months of his contract at Anfield.
“Well, we are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club, [so] I’m probably more out than in," Salah said. "You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future," he added.
Salah's potential move to Saudi Arabia was a hot topic even during the 2023 summer transfer window, with Al Ittihad reportedly presenting Liverpool with an offer exceeding £100 million.
There has been little discussion about a transfer to the Middle East in the past 18 months, but Sky Germany journalist, Florian Plettenberg, reports that Al Hilal is once again strongly pursuing Mohamed Salah for a signing at the end of the season.
The Saudi Pro League club is actively monitoring the situation and is prepared to take action if Salah fails to secure a new contract. The transfer pundit also asserts that Paris Saint-Germain, the French champions, have not pinpointed the 32-year-old as a potential transfer target at this time.
While PSG is currently not in the market for Salah, Al Hilal manager Jorge Jesus has shared that a signing is not in the works for January. However, there is a possibility that they may consider him once the 2024/25 season concludes.
