Manchester United are known to be the big spenders in the transfer window and would be doing the talking once again this season. The team has some issues at the back to deal with as the squad has seen some players leave and sustained many injuries at certain positions. Manchester United struggled at both left-back and centre-backs this season due to recurring injuries and are set to look for new players this summer.

Tyrell Malacia was expected to be Manchester United's solution to Luke Shaw's ongoing injury issues. Malacia had his own injury nightmares this season, missing every game. All this accomplished was to focus attention on Shaw, who sustained four different injuries and was unable to play any game after mid-February.

Here are the 3 defenders that Manchester United might look to sign during the transfer window

3. Milos Kerkez

Manchester United could turn to Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez. Now, as the next transfer window approaches, Fabrizio Romano says Manchester United's pursuit of the youngster has become serious. Romano, talking on his channel on YouTube, describes Kerkez as one of the continent's most exciting players at his position.

Kerkez has just been with the club for a year, having signed from Dutch team AZ Alkmaar. The Echo reports that Bournemouth paid merely £15.5 million for Milos Kerkez this past summer. Kerkez is an interesting prospect, but it's unknown how much United intend to invest on a left back. Bournemouth's demands might put United out of the running for his signature this summer, at least.

2. Jarrad Branthwaite

Jarrad Branthwaite, the Everton defender, fits many of Manchester United's needs this summer. He is a rising centre-back at just 21 years old, having made 45 Premier League games. Everton are looking for £75 million for the England star, who hopes to join the Euro 2024 squad.

Manchester United naturally believes that this figure overvalues Branthwaite and may exceed the club's budget for just one player during this transfer window. Manchester United are correct not to push for Everton's asking price, since the Toffees are going through a difficult financial period following the collapse of their most recent takeover bid.

1. Lenny Yoro

This summer, Manchester United submitted a courageous offer for LOSC Lille centre back Leny Yoro. Yoro has established himself as one of Europe's best young defenders since joining Lille's first squad at the age of 16 in 2022.

The 18-year-old Frenchman played an important part for Lille this season, helping the team qualify for the UEFA Champions League. While Real Madrid has been in discussion with Yoro's camp for some time, Marca says Manchester United have moved rapidly and gained the focus with an offer "above the average" for the centre-half, expected to be in the amount of €60 million.
