2026 FIFA World Cup final set to have half-time show

The upcoming FIFA World Cup will be having a half-time show for the very first time in the 96-year history of the prestigious tournament.

A halftime display reminiscent of the Super Bowl, created by Global Citizen, FIFA, and Global Citizen, was unveiled on Saturday at the Global Citizen Festival for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.FIFA has a four-year deal with Global Citizen, an advocacy group that plans entertainment events with the goal of ending world hunger.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said through a statement that, “FIFA’s mission is to develop football in every corner of the world and to have a positive impact on society. Through this partnership, FIFA and Global Citizen will bring together the worlds of sport and entertainment to actively contribute to a better world. We are committing to a series of joint activities that will help promote access to football and engage fans of the sport in an effort to create positive change in their local communities.”

The 2026 Final is set to be the first event that the two groups prepare together. Alongside Infantino and Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans were well-known celebrities Hugh Jackman, DJ Khalid, and Gayle King, who were there as the two groups made their announcement.

The goal of the top international advocacy group in the world, Global Citizen, is to eradicate severe poverty. In the last ten years, it has used $43.6 billion, affecting around 1.3 billion lives. Global Citizen aims to create a worldwide initiative of 50 million people in the next five years to improve the lives of an additional 650 million people.

Global Citizen spokesperson said in a statement, “FIFA and Global Citizen share a common vision to work with football fans around the world with a view to driving positive action towards ending extreme poverty by ensuring that all children have access to quality education. Five billion people around the world engaged with the last FIFA World Cup. Together with FIFA, we have a remarkable opportunity to broaden our movement of action takers.”
