The ongoing Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Masters Shanghai saw an unbelievable comeback from G2 Esports, who were left in an almost impossible state to recover. The team later headed into the upper bracket finals against Team Heretics. With back-to-back 11 rounds in the bag, the team likely broke the spirit of their opponents moving forward in the best-of-three match.

Series overview
1st match
The first match saw Team Heretics dominating G2 with an 11-2 opening in the first half. Recovery seems impossible, and sure enough, Heretics closed the match after G2 struggled for a few more rounds in the second half. The situation was so bad that the highest kills for any G2 player were the lowest on Heretics. Benjyfishy accumulated a total of 28 kills in the first match.
2nd match
The second match also saw a similar trend, with G2 left on 2 rounds in the first half. Fans expected the match to close out as Heretics secured the opening round in the second half. Heretics only need one round to secure OT and two to secure the series. However, this time G2 turned the tides and made a huge comeback of 11 back-to-back rounds, securing the match.
Decider
The decider match was on Lotus, and the previous match seems to have had an effect on Heretics. The team had previously defeated G2 on the same map during the group stages, however, they struggled to find footing this time. G2’s defence seems rock solid, unlike Heretics, who failed to stop a single attack in the second half.
G2 Esports will now be facing Gen.G Esports, who dominated 100 Thieves to make their way into the upper bracket finals at VCT Masters Shanghai. 100 Thieves on the other hand have managed to survive their first match in the lower bracket against Paper Rex.
