A 16-year-old boy from Bilaspur district has reportedly committed suicide, with the reason being revealed as stress due to playing Free Fire. As reported by Bhilai Times, the minor was very fond of playing Free Fire Max. Additional SP Archana Jha revealed that an addiction to the game is also being considered as one of the points of investigation.

The suicide as per the report was committed by hanging and the whole family of the boy is grieving. Police who spoke to his friends found that they used to play Free Fire together, which is the main reason why the game is considered a factor.

As per the preliminary investigation, the boy used to play the game a lot, often for hours at times. Due to that reason, he reportedly had almost no social life, which the police suspect is a prime cause of stress and depression.

Not the first Video Game related death

While Video Games are gaining a lot of popularity, there have been several cases of release to death due to video games. Pokémon GO was possibly where it all started, as the game made international headlines after kids were physically harming themselves to collect shiny Pokémon.

Later on, the news regarding various incidents including children spending all of their family savings on games and losing their lives over video games like BGMI started surfacing across the news. While the instances have subsided a lot, there are still many suicide cases blamed over video games.
