Another debate in the BGMI scene stirs as Mohammed "Owais" Lakhani, a popular BGMI pro, recently revealed that new players are getting much higher salaries than ones who have been in the pro-BGMI scene for years and expressed his frustration on the matter. While not naming anyone, he implied it is very common nowadays.

In a recent stream, Owais talked about the salary difference between new players and experienced ones. Talks regarding player salaries are always going on, but Owais revealed that new players who are performing better are getting even higher salaries than those with years of experience behind their backs.

He accepted that talented players should be compensated accordingly, however, those who have been in the scene for quite some time and entered as fresh talent were never given the amount new players are getting directly today in the pro BGMI scene.

Veteran BGMI players left in the dust

While he did not name any players and organizations, nor did he reveal the salary for anyone, he gave a vague example about how players like his started with 10-15,000 which gradually increased over the years. However, he revealed that new players are getting ten times more salary from the start, with some even reaching up to 1 lakh.

He even revealed that many organizations agree on this demand, while players like him are always left with compromise. The situation this creates is that the move to new organisations increases player prices even more, which is one of the reasons why the esports industry is becoming more unsustainable.

Currently playing for Numen Gaming, who recently secured a second spot at BMPS 2024, Owais has a rich background and is one of the OG players in the BGMI scene. While the scale of what he described isn’t known, it is undoubtedly a big issue.
