Popular North American esports organisation OpTic Gaming and Italian football club Juventus have joined hands in order to further create an inclusive environment for sports and esports. Fans on both side seems to be surprised and excited by this collaboration.

Juventus already have an esports team across EA FC and Rocket League in partnership with Dsyre Esports. The team have seen decent success, which was likely a positive factor in OpTic and Juventus partnership.

“We’re looking forward to making this partnership one that unites people, brings more fans into the GreenWall, elevates Juventus, and makes OpTic a more global organisation than ever,” said Hector Rodriguez, CEO of OpTic Gaming.

Both organisations will be engaging with each other through social media contents, co-branded merchandise and plans for unique on-site activations for each other in their respective field of expertise throughout the year.

“We see football and gaming continue to be a natural cultural intersection point. OpTic are pioneers in their industry, have a winning spirit, and have world-renowned players and influencers connected to some of the most popular game titles on the planet. This is a unique opportunity for us to innovate together to bring something more to both fan groups,” said Mike Armstrong, CMO of Juventus.

The first collab starts soon with four creators from OpTic visiting the Allianz Stadium, Juventus Training Center and Juventus Creator Lab. It will be an initial celebration of the partnership.

Not the first rodeo for football clubs

The is not the first time football clubs have stepped into the esports realm. In the past, other popular clubs like FC Bayern München, Beşiktaş, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and many more have jumped onto the esports scene.

More recently, Lionel Messi himself joined the popular Argentine organisation KRÜ Esports as a co-owner. The organisation was founded by Sergio Agüero, a former football pro from Argentina. One of the legends of football joining the esports industry is a clear sign of its growing popularity.
