IEM Dallas 2024 (Source - ESL on X)
Days before the upcoming Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2024, the latest announcement from ESL has revealed that the matches will be played on the latest Counter-Strike 2 patch. The same one that allowed chickens more movement freedom.
The decision was about keeping the recent bug fixes in mind and preventing further crashes that might affect any teams’ results in crucial rounds. Alongside the fix for crashes, the updated Vertigo will also be there, so players can expect some action.
“IEM Dallas will be played on the LIVE update in an effort to prevent significant crashes. Vertigo's latest version will be played along with the rest of the patch,” ESL said in its statement.
Alongside the map changes and bug fixes, the new incendiary grenade for the Counter-Terrorists will also be interesting. While the price for the incendiary has been lower to $500, the effects and area of effect have also taken some hit. The Terrorists will now have to wait a bit less for it to go out and can attack fast.
Tournament teams and format
IEM Dallas 2024 is set to commence on May 27 and will feature 16 teams, including some of the top teams and many new ones who are making a name for themselves. The tournament also features a prize pool of $250,000, but most importantly, it holds a spot for IEM Cologne 2024 for the winner.
Teams will be divided into two groups of eight for Group Stages, which will be played in a double-elimination format. Opening matches will be best of one, while all others will be best of three. Three teams from each group will be moving forward to the Playoffs.
