G2 makes it to IEM Dallas playoffs while NaVi get whooped by Heroic

With m0nesy, NiKo and huNter looking in form, G2 Esports have now bested Team Liquid and made their way into the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Dallas 2024 Playoffs alongside the NA stand-in Stewie2K, who after some slow opening matches have got a hold of himself.

Facing Liquid in the lower bracket finals, G2 weren’t off to a great start as Liquid managed to stop the team on the attacking side and secured their map pick. The situation wasn’t great on the second map, as the team had an abysmal first half, prompting another loss and a trip to the airport.

However, the team made an insane comeback, taking nine rounds back to back on the defending while creating some iconic moments including the insane A site held by m0nesy with an AWP and tec9.

The final was also a rollercoaster of emotions and the reason why people love pro-CS as both teams kept each other on the toes before G2 finally made another comeback ending the match 13-11 and preventing Liquid from taking the game into overtime.

NaVi returns home

After a crushing defeat against Team Spirit, Natus Vincere now saw the same fate against Heroic in a 0-2 defeat, knocking them out of IEM Dallas. The only way they can now play IEM Cologne is via ESL world ranking which should not be difficult but this loss is not what many expected from the team.

On NaVi’s side, Aleksib and w0nderful had a rough day, while the entire Heroic were looking ready. The team defended their map almost perfectly on the attacking and defending sides. The second map on Mirage, however, came as a real surprise loss. NaVi had a decent first half but fumbled the defence side in the second with players losing duels.

Six teams locked in for Playoffs

While all these shenanigans were ongoing, a few others also made their way into the Playoffs including Heroic who also defeated BIG to secure Playoffs from the lower brackets. Here are the matchups -
