G2 and Vitality crushes young guns to reach IEM Dallas grand finals

G2 and Vitality sent Team Spirit and 9 Team home at the IEM Dallas semifinals and will now face each other for $100k and an invitation to IEM Cologne.

With a flawless run at the Playoffs, G2 Esports and Team Vitality have now made it to the grand finals of Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Dallas 2024. Both teams once again took down their opponents in the semifinals with similar ease.

Despite G2 being one of the premier teams, 9z’s performance at the event had left many doubting G2, especially after their recent run at previous events. G2 handled the situation quite well and managed to take down the 9z Team.

Although praise where it’s due for 9z’s amazing run at the event. The team challenged G2 on their map pick and almost took the game into OT before G2 clutched back-to-back rounds. The following map was Dust 2 where both teams started out on equal footing but 9z failed to defend in the second half leading to a 0-2 loss.

Team Spirit falls to Vitality

After defeating the likes of Faze Clan and Natus Vincere, Team Spirit fell short near the end line as Vitality turned out to be a menace. The opening for both games would have surely left all confused as both teams matched each other.

Vitality once again picked Dust 2 and while Vitality did defend decently, they failed on the attack side. Teams Spirit picked Mirage as their best map, which also gave an advantage to Vitality. Both teams saw each other in a stalemate before Vitality clutched the game point.

The wins for G2 and vitality came at a crucial time. Fans are happy to see G2 and Vitality back on track once again after a few setbacks at previous events. Both teams will now face each other in a final best of three to decide who will secure a spot at IEM Cologne. It remains to be seen if the match will go one-sided or end up in a struggle between two of the best Counter-Strike teams.
