Round of 16 at ESL Pro League S19 recently concluded, and the results were as expected by most. G2 Esports, Virtus.pro, FlyQuest and FaZe Clan have defeated their opponents and moved on to the Round of 12 in the Playoffs. That, however, doesn’t mean their opponents went down easily.

Overview

BIG Vs G2 Esports

G2 Esports faced BIG, and the opening match itself left G2 fans with sweaty palms. BIG opened up great with an 8:4 lead on the Counter-Terrorists (CT) side, but G2 managed to catch up in their own defence, leading the game into overtime.

The overtime saw a cart and mouse chase as booth teams were able to hold a perfect defence in the defending side leading to second overtime. This time, however, BIG stumbled and G2, taking full advantage of the situation, closes the game. The following match saw G2 crushing BIG to move forward.

Virtus.pro Vs GamerLegion

GamerLegion also held its own against Virtus.pro, bringing the game very close. However, the team wasn’t able to close their games before Virtus.pro. Both of their games ended in a 13-11 victory for Virtus.pro. GamerLegion always had a great first half, but fumbled in the second half, costing them both games.

FlyQuest Vs BetBoom Team

BetBoom Team and FlyQuest are both new entries in the Counter Strike scene and are relatively well-matched. The opening match saw BetBoom take the lead with Magnojez performing on top, while the following match saw FlyQuest return the favour.

This led to the decider map on Anubis, where both teams saw each other on equal footing in the first half. FlyQuest, however, took the lead with great defence in the second half, ending the game to their advantage.

FaZe Clan Vs Monte

The final match of the day was between FaZe Clan and Monte, with FaZe taking the lead on Monte’s map pick on Vertigo with a dominating opening half. Monte, however, did not give up and snatched the victory from FaZe in the second map.

The second map was a rollercoaster as Monte first took the initial lead with FaZe chasing down and leading the game into overtime. However, at the end, Monte came out on top leading the game into a decider where they did go down, but not without a fight.
