Dota 2 Elite League (Source - Valve/Liquipedia)
The group stages for the first-ever Dota 2 Elite League by Fissure concluded on April 10 and eight out of 24 teams have made their way to the Playoffs. These eight teams will fight for the $960,0000 prize pool over the next few days.
Matches for the lower brackets will commence first, however, fans are most likely waiting for the upper brackets battles. Team Falcons from the Middle East region have been on a roll with their performance recently, while Xtreme Gaming is not to be taken lightly.
The other matchup also features two popular teams, Azure Ray and Team Liquid, that have been locking horns since last year. Matches between both teams have been intense in multiple high-stakes tournaments.
Format
Teams will play their matches in a double-elimination bracket. Our out of the eight teams will start from the upper bracket semifinals, while the remaining four will start from lower bracket Round 1 and will have to survive each day to remain in the tournament. All matches will be played as best of three apart in front of the grand finals which will be best of five.
The placement for these teams wdetermined by their performance in the group stages, with the top two teams from each group starting in the upper bracket, while the 3rd and 4th place from the lower brackets. Here are the opening matchups for the Playoffs-
Upper Bracket Semifinals
Team Falcons Vs Xtreme Gaming
Azure Ray Vs Team Liquid
Lower Bracket Round 1
G2 x iG Vs Gaimin Gladiators
Tundra Esports Vs PSG Quest
The teams in the upper brackets need to secure two wins to reach the grand finals, compared to a four-win requirement in the lower brackets. Considering a lot of top-tier teams in the Playoffs, it is easy to maintain a streak.
