The 4th Major for Call of Duty League (CDL) will reportedly be played without a live audience. As per the official statement, the decision was taken due to multiple factors but no definitive answer was provided which left the fans frustrated.
The Call of Duty League Major 4 was previously scheduled to take place in Charlotte, North Carolina, by Carolina Royal Ravens. However, the host backed out, and the event will be held in Burbank, California on a LAN.
The official announcement from Carolina Royal Ravens stated, “We regret to announce that due to a range of factors, we will not be hosting Major IV this season. We know how many of you were looking forward to our event, and we hope to put on a show in our hometown that fans can be proud of in the future.”
Matches can still be streamed online
This decision, however, only affects the live audience as the game will still be streamed on YouTube as confirmed by Call of Duty League. The event was previously planned to take place on May 24 but has now been postponed. “Major IV will now take place from June 27-30 and fans can still stream all the matches on YouTube,” said CDL on X.
Although, fans aren’t happy about the decision. The CDL attracts a huge audience throughout the year, and several hardcore fans like to visit the tournaments in person, however, the recent moves by Activision regarding the CDL have left everyone doubting if any effort is being made.
This is also not the first time an organizer backed off on the event. Last year’s CDL Major IV was also set to be hosted by New York Subliners before they backed out, and the tournament was hosted on LAN in Columbus, Ohio.
