Ubisoft recently revealed the next instalment in the Assassin's Creed franchise with Assassin's Creed Shadows. The game is set in feudal Japan and will be an open-world game featuring two protagonists, a female Shinobi and a male Samurai.

The game offers two different gameplay styles with these characters and it is not the first time Ubisoft has done something like this. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate also had two characters.

Naoe, the Shinobi, features stealth-based game gameplay using, smoke, noise and other elements in her gameplay style that aims to give players the feel of original games. Yasuke, the Samurai on the other hand, is like the brute force character that people who like to go guns blazing will prefer.

Right off the box, the game promises a lot, but with recent releases from Ubisoft, players are very sceptical about the game since the reveal was cinematic with no gameplay. The gameplay could very well come in the next few months, as the game is set to release on November 14, 2024.

The pre-orders, however, are now active for the game and come in three options.

The standard edition will have the base game and is priced at $69.99.
Gold edition will have 3-day early access, a season pass with two expansions and an extra quest at $109.99.
Ultimate Edition will have all of the above with extra character cosmetics at $129.99

Offline play available

There were a lot of rumours surrounding the game regarding a persistent internet connectivity requirement, as most other games nowadays from Ubisoft follow this trend, including the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws. However, the developers have now come clean on the topic.

In a recent post on X, the development team revealed that the game will support offline play. The only time a player will require the internet is for downloading the game on all platforms, as even the disk will have the download requirement.

“Assassin's Creed Shadows will not require a mandatory connection at all times. An online connection will be needed to install the game, but you will be able to play the entire journey offline and explore Japan without any online connection,” the post stated.
