Former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar spoke about Team India's winning conditions without Jasprit Bumrah. The ace bowler is out of the ground in the second innings and the reason is unknown. Due to discomfort, he went to the doctors on day two and hasn't returned to the ground ever since. Although he came in to bat, but he didn't bowl a single over in the last innings.
Speaking about India's chances of winning, Gavaskar said that without Bumrah, chances of winning are less. He's the ace bowler who has taken 32 wickets in the series, the highest by any player. His injury would mean India are in huge trouble because of the upcoming cricket cycle.
"Not too much (chance). Without Jasprit Bumrah, it’s going to be very difficult for India to win the Test match. I’m not saying it’s impossible as funny things have happened in cricket. Prasidh Krishna, after a disappointing first spell, came back brilliantly to get rid of Steve Smith and Alex Carey. If he bowls the way he did maybe he can be effective, but you need Bumrah for the initial breakthroughs. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh may not have the same effect that Bumrah will bring," said Sunil Gavaskar.
It's a technical fault: Sunil Gavaskar
Sunil Gavaskar also shed light on Virat Kohli's struggle against outside off stump deliveries. Kohli has been dismissed eight out of nine times in the series with the outside off balls and he hasn't corrected his mistake yet. Criticizing the player, Gavaskar said 'it is a technical fault.'
"It’s not a temperament issue; it’s a technical fault. He's so front-footed that when the ball bounces, he's unable to adjust, which leads to him hanging his bat outside the line and getting out. This flaw has become embedded in his technique, and on pitches with significant bounce, he will continue to struggle," added Gavaskar.
