Will Jasprit Bumrah bowl for India in Australia’s final innings at the SCG?

Stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah was seen heading to the hospital during the second day’s play of SCG Test on Saturday. The 31-year-old had scans performed on him before he was back at the ground before the end of play. With 32 wickets in the series and India’s chances of retaining the BGT and WTC hopes on the line, Bumrah is a key player. 

According to a BCCI source who spoke to Times of India said, “Bumrah was taken for a precautionary scan after a back spasm, but nothing serious at the moment. He should be okay to bat, but a final call on bowling will be taken on basis of how he feels in the morning."

Jasprit Bumrah has not just been the best bowler for India but also across both sides. The 31-year-old bowled just one over in the post lunch session before heading off the park. Bumrah picked two wickets dismissing Australian opener Usman Khawaja and number three batter Marnus Labuschagne for two runs each. 

Sunil Gavaskar lauds Rishabh Pant for his blazing fifty

Former Indian cricket star Sunil Gavaskar praised Rishabh Pant for his blazing half-century on Saturday. The 27-year-old scored his half-century off just 29 balls and was out for 61 runs from 33 balls. This helped India fight back after losing wickets at regular intervals as the hosts were relentless with the ball. 

Speaking on Star Sports, Mr. Gavaskar said “These are quite impactful runs, and he is the reason India has scored these runs because he has scored half of those runs. But the difference between the shot that he played at Melbourne versus the shot that he has played here, the difference is that the shots that he played today were in front of the wickets, he did play a shot towards the square-leg, he capitalised on Mitchell Starc's angle and flicked it on the square-leg”

The 75-year-old also said, “And the strength that he possesses of playing down the ground and hitting big sixes in those regions, he capitalised on it. He tried to scoop the ball once and was not successful, he also tried to reverse scoop then too he was not successful and then he planned to play straight and he was successful in doing so. That is his normal game."
