This left many fans confused as to why the match continued despite India’s win. Since this is a warm-up match the rules suggest that India can bat on and utilize their full quota of 46 overs. Having gone past the total set by PMXI was enough for the win but the team also had the chance to utilize their full quota of overs which they did.

Earlier in the day, PMXI were put into bat by India and were bowled out for 240 runs. The best batter for the home side was Sam Konstas who scored 107 runs. The 19-year-old got his runs off 97 balls with 14 hits to the fence and a huge six. Hanno Jacobs did well to score 60-ball 61 while Harshit Rana’s 4/44 were the best bowling figures.

Skipper Rohit Sharma was out for 3 runs from 11 balls when he was caught by Oliver Davies off Charlie Anderson. Nitish Reddy was given a chance to bat up the order and the 22-year-old scored 42 off 32 balls with five boundaries and a six. Shubman Gill who missed the Perth test batted well to score 50 before retiring himself out.

Washington Sundar scored unbeaten 37 runs from 31 balls while Ravindra Jadeja scored 27 runs from 31 balls to help India win. Team India ended the contest with 257 runs on the board from their 46 overs to take some practice ahead of the Adelaide Test. Charlie Anderson was the best bowler for the home side with 2/30.
