Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated the Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets in the 43rd match of the ongoing IPL 2025 to give a final dent to their playoff hopes. The game was played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday. The visiting skipper, Pat Cummins, won the toss and asked CSK to bat first.
Batting first, the hosts struggled and could manage to post a total of only 154 runs in 19.5 overs, losing all their wickets. Young batter Dewald Brevis played a crucial knock of 42 runs off just 25 balls, with one four and four sixes on his IPL debut for CSK. Besides him, it was teenage opener Ayush Mhatre who scored 30 runs off 19 balls, with six fours to help their side post a respectable total.
Harshal Patel scalped 4 wickets for SRH in the first innings, alongside 2 wickets each picked by Pat Cummins and Jaydev Unadkat. Mohammed Sham and Kamindu Mendis also bagged a wicket each for their side in the first half of the game. While chasing the target, SRH scored 155 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 18.4 overs and won the game comfortably by 5 wickets.
With this win, SRH have moved up a spot up at eighth, in the table, surpassing Rajasthan Royals.
