Ahead of the 2nd Test match in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 against India, Australia has made a big change in the squad. For the day/night Test match in Adelaide, Australia have added a new rookie player, Beau Webster, to the squad. All-rounder Marsh is likely to not play the 2nd Test due to soreness. The details about the injury haven't been provided yet.

It is a big change for Australia as Marsh is a talented player who can contribute with both bat and ball. Hence, not having him around would make it difficult for the team to balance. Moreover, the Tasmanian all-rounder Webster can perfectly replace the player. Webster scored over 900 runs and claimed 30 wickets in the previous Sheffield Shield season. This year, he scored 448 runs at an average of 56 and claimed 16 wickets.

The 30-year-old has played two unofficial games for Australia A and was impressive. An interesting fact about him is that he was an off-spinner four years ago but shifted to pace bowling. This has helped him confuse the batters per the condition's demand. Also, he is a brilliant fielder and a finest slip catcher. His inclusion in the squad and with all the qualities he possesses, it looks like the star is ready for his debut.

To get a few runs and wickets (for Australia A) was pleasing: Beau Webster

Webster was quite elated with his selection in the Australian squad. The player is an epitome of hard work and now that everything is falling into place, he is just happy and grateful that it happened. He received the maiden call-up from selection committee chairman George Bailey, which was a proud moment for the player.

"To get a few runs and wickets (for Australia A) was pleasing against a strong Indian side. Any time you're playing 'A' cricket, it's the one step below Test level, so it does hold you in good stead. To get the call from 'Bails' (men's selection chair George Bailey) at the end of the NSW game was a really proud moment and I can't wait to get stuck in," said Webster ahead of the announcement.
