As the mega auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is approaching faster than ever, the Board hasn't released any changes in the rules. There is excitement among the fans, and hence, there are certain rumours about Lucknow Super Giants owners that they have set aside INR 50 crores for MI's former skipper Rohit Sharma for the mega auction. In a recent interview by SportsTak, SLG owner Sanjiv Goenka was asked if the rumours were true or not, to which he gave a blunt reply.

Goenka said, "You tell me one thing, do you, or anybody know, whether Rohit Sharma is coming to the auctions or not? All these speculations are without any reason. Whether Mumbai Indians will release Rohit Sharma or not, whether he is coming to the auction or not, even if he comes if you are going to use 50 per cent of your salary cap on one player, how will you manage the other 22 players?"

His answer to the press has increased speculations about Rohit's status in the MI squad and whether management was ready to leave him.

Rohit Sharma's campaign with the Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai boy joined the Mumbai Indians squad in 2011. Since then, he hasn't looked back. After becoming the team captain, he won five IPL trophies, the most by any captain until 2023. In 2023, MSD equalled his record and won 5 trophies in the IPL. However, if we look at Rohit's journey, we see that it has been inspirational.

From being a young, talented boy to winning the most titles in a tournament is nothing less than a huge achievement. Also, he has several records which are unbreakable. Technically, he has won six trophies, one with the Deccan Chargers and five more with the Mumbai Indians. He is a remarkable player who has done a lot for his team.
