What Happened in India's last T20I outing in the USA

The United States of America (USA) might be making its debut in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 as a co-host to West Indies, but the Rohit Sharma-led team India has already played two T20I games in Lauderhill, Florida. In 2023, India went on a tour to the Caribbean to play a 5-match T20I series, where they played the first three matches in the West Indies and the last two games in the US. 

India won their first game in the US while they lost their 2nd game. In the 4th T20I, West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 178 runs at the loss of eight wickets. Indian bowlers were on fire as they kept taking wickets at regular intervals and didn't allow the batters to settle at all. When the men in blue came out to bat, Yashasvi Jaiswal (84) and Shubman Gill (77) batted effortlessly and took the team past the victory line. With the opener's brilliant efforts, the team finished the match in the 17th over, and the series became tied, 2-2. 

In the fifth T20I match, the Caribbean side took their revenge and the series as they won the game by eight wickets. This time, India won the toss and elected to bat first but scored 165 runs. Suryakumar Yadav's 61 runs helped them reach a respectable target. West Indies opener Brendon King (85) and Nicholas Pooran (47) finished off the match in the 18th over and took the trophy home. India's US journey might not have been filled with flowers the last time they went there, but the team would definitely want to change their fortunes this time. 

India's T20 World Cup 2024 journey to begin on June 5

The men in blue have reached the USA and played their only warm-up game against Bangladesh before the start of their T20 World Cup 2024 journey. India is set to play against Ireland on June 5 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. They are in Group A, along with the USA, Pakistan, and Canada. 

While the first match between the USA and Canada went exceptionally well, India must plan its strategies against these teams since they seem to be in real form. The upcoming matches of group A will be super fun since all teams are looking strong and confident about their approach.
