Gujarat Titans (GT) are set to host Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a key clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday. One of the key concerns for many GT fans is whether captain Shubman Gill is fit to play the game. Gill didn’t field in the previous game against Rajasthan Royals after scoring 84 runs from 50 balls.

India Today quoted GT’s director of cricket Vikram Solanki as saying, “There was a bit of a back spasm. We’re just trying to be careful with it. He'll be at training today. We'll just see where he's at. We're reasonably confident that he's going to be O”K. If Gill isn’t fit to play the game, then Rashid Khan will lead GT against his former IPL side.

Speaking to the host broadcasters at the end of the last game, Gill had said, “Felt a little back spasm in my back and we have a game a couple of days after this, so the physio didn't want to take a chance.” The 25-year-old has been one of the key batters for his side, having scored 389 runs from nine games with an average of 48 and a strike rate of 156.

Pat Cummins and his side travel to Ahmedabad needing a win to stay alive in the tournament. Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings have already been eliminated from the tournament. Currently, SRH and GT both have played nine games each this season. Hyderabad has six points so far, while Gujarat has 12 points with a very healthy run-rate.

If Gujarat wins the game with a huge margin, they could overtake Mumbai Indians and occupy the top spot in the points table. In case the victory margin is small, the Titans will move to second spot with Royal Challengers Bengaluru moving to third. In the last meeting between the two sides, the Titans had beaten SRH very comfortably.

Hyderabad are coming to the game on the back of a small vacation post winning their match against Chennai away from home. The focus will be on the form of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma at the top of the order. Mohammed Shami returns to his former stomping ground and SRH team management will hope that the veteran pacer can deliver for his side.
