KL Rahul, the only Indian batter who seemed to have adjusted to the Australian conditions, departed back to the pavilion, which is due to wrong umpiring decisions taken in the technological era. When Rahul was batting on 26 runs, Mitchell Starc bowled a good length delivery across the off stump. Rahul went forward to defend the ball but couldn't and he went on with the angle, as the ball flew to the wicketkeeper.

However, there was a noise heard as the ball passed the bat. At the same time, the bat touched the pad as well so the confusion around what hit first remained in the on-field umpire as he gave the decision in Rahul's favour. But as the Australians went for a review, in the hope of dismissing the best batter of the game. Unfortunately, there was no front angle. On the other hand, as per the side angle, the third umpire ruled the decision against the batter.

Rahul wasn't happy with the decision as he felt the ball didn't hit the bat and was given out unnecessarily. He returned back to the pavilion with disappointment in his face. It was a lack of good umpiring skills which led to Rahul's wicket. He looked in form and played some solid shots against the deadly Australian bowlers.
