Melbourne Renegades beat Perth Scorchers in a close clash that took place on Monday at the Docklands Stadium. One of the biggest selling points about the Docklands Stadium is the fact that it is the world’s only closed roof stadium. There was a incident which took place during the game that left the fans confused.

Kane Richardsons was bowling the 9th over to Cooper Connolly who hit the ball high onto the roof. Once the ball made contact with the roof then it came back to the ground as the bowler had a sheepish smile on his face. The batters completed the run but the umpire decided to signal that delivery as a dead ball.
The win on Monday was special for the Renegades as they beat Scorchers after six loses in head to head record. This win also means that Renegades are now at the top of the table with 4 points from 3 games. It was the home team skipper Will Sutherland who won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Melbourne Renegades take home close win
Perth Scorchers managed to score just 143 on the board for the loss of 8 wickets from their 20 overs. The best batter for the visitors was Cooper Connolly who scored 66 runs from 50 balls with a single four and 6 huge sixes. Matthew Spoors with 29 was the only other batter to reach double figures for the Scorchers.
In reply to this, Renegades saw Tim Seifert and Jacob Bethell scored 28 and 30 respectively. Skipper Will Sutherland’s unbeaten 15 off 20 balls saw his team win the game with 2 wickets in hand and a over to spare. Scorchers bowlers did their best but the home team held on to their nerves and pulled off a close win.
Tom Rogers was given the man of the match for his figures of 3/22 from 4 overs. Speaking at the end of the game Rogers said “I thought Cooper Connolly played a hell of a knock. Tight little game in the end. Last few games have been slightly bowler friendly.”
